Our online test system is under development and we will make it available to the public as soon as it has been tested and approved by Transport Canada.

In the meantime, we encourage you to write your boater test on paper with one of our testing agents. If you do not reside near a freecourse.ca testing agent, it is possible to write the test by mail if it is supervised.

To arrange for you to write the test by mail, we need to be able to send the test to somebody (the proctor) who is NOT related (by birth or marriage) to the person or persons writing the test and who belongs to a professional group (such as a licensed teacher, principal, college instructor, nurse, doctor, pharmacist, engineer, engineering technologist, architect, lawyer, court clerk, commissioner of oaths, officer of the court, police officer, by-law officer, fire fighter, paramedic, chartered accountant, an elected person, mayor, city clerk, or clergy person).

The information required from the test supervisor (proctor) for a correspondence test is:

Mailing address with postal code:
Phone number:
E-mail address:
Professional designation:
Work phone number:

From the person(s) wishing to write the paper test by mail, we will require:

Mailing address with postal code:
Phone number(s):
Personal e-mail address:

The above information must be forwarded to us by you or by your proctor, preferably via e-mail ( support@freecourse.ca ).

If the proctor that you propose is accepted, we will explain their duties to them and arrange for them to receive the test materials (includes instructions, the test, answer sheet, and correction key). The cost of a proctored test is $25 (price includes applicable taxes, Temporary Operator Card, and permanent Pleasure Craft Operator Card). Payment can be made by cheque or money order (payable to freecourse.ca). If paying by cheque or money order, payment can be sent in with the corrected answer sheet after the test has been written.

To prepare for the test, we invite you to review our free five-module online training course (with review questions at the end of each module) which you can find in the Free Course section of our site.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via e-mail: support@freecourse.ca
